Oral Cancer Awareness

April is Oral Cancer awareness month!

Did you know, studies done by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare report that there are approximately 2500 new cases of oral cancer in Australia each year!
Symptoms can include:

  • visible lumps that may or may not be painful
  • an ulcer that won’t heal
  • bleeding from ulcers or lumps
  • impaired tongue mobility
  • trouble swallowing
  • sore gums
  • and swollen lymph glands.

Without treatment oral cancer can burrow into the deeper tissue and spread to your throat and glands.Your dentist is the first line of defence in early detection of this disease! All our doctors ensure that an oral cancer check is part of our patients regular 6 monthly preventative appointments.
